The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) revealed that the total value of sponsorships provided for the activities and initiatives implemented by small and medium enterprises amounted to 114,969 for 23 activities and initiatives that were implemented until the end of August 2023. The total number of institutions benefiting from the support reached 18 institutions.

The aspects of sponsorship are represented in exhibitions, seminars and conferences that promote small and medium enterprises and craftsmen, in addition to competitions and programmes related to spreading the culture of entrepreneurship and encouraging innovation, and include many sectors, including the industrial sector, the craft sector, the health sector, the tourism sector, startups and other sectors.

On the other hand, the Authority contributed to supporting small and medium enterprises in various tourist seasons in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman to enhance the sustainability of small and medium enterprises. Furthermore, to the activities and initiatives that the Authority contributed to supporting during the Khareef Dhofar Season 2023 as in the Khareef Dhofar, it provided support to a number of institutions and events that contributed to revitalising the tourism season with its innovative ideas and spreading the culture of startups and expanding them in the local and international markets.

SMEDA assigns great importance to promoting the growth and sustainability of small and medium enterprises, as it has formed an internal committee concerned with studying, analysing and evaluating requests for sponsorship of events, activities and programmes related to small and medium enterprises, entrepreneurs, and craftsmen. It is according to specific principles and controls: the impact (success indicators), the number of beneficiaries, the extent of connection with the goals that the Authority seeks to achieve, the clarity of the vision and the implementation methodology.

Notably, the support packages provided by the Authority contributed to the provision of temporary job opportunities, during which many SMEs, craftsmen, and productive families benefited.
