SALALAH: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) in Dhofar Governorate has raised awareness for risk assessment through a symposium on vital facilities and a three-day seminar on the security of vital installations.

The symposium, held in Salalah, brought together experts and stakeholders from the security and safety sector, along with project managers from the government and private sectors.

Lt-Col Ahmed Kashop, Commander of the CDAA in Dhofar Governorate, said the symposium was timely, given the industrial and technological progress and competition between companies and factories.

"These factors have led to many health and social risks, such as work injuries, fires, gas leaks, and hazardous materials leaks," said Lt-Col Kashop.

"The CDAA plays a vital role in dealing with these risks. We investigate reports of accidents and and work with security and safety teams at facilities to develop emergency plans and risk assessments." Risk assessment is an analytical process that identifies potential risks and evaluates their likelihood and severity. It helps develop effective mitigation measures to reduce the risk of accidents and incidents.

The symposium allowed participants to learn about the importance of risk assessment and how to implement it in their organisations. It also highlighted the CDAA's role in protecting the public's health and safety.

The seminar featured 17 speakers and attracted 250 participants. The seminar provided a forum for discussing critical security and safety issues, focusing on global perspectives and insights. Participants explored a wide range of topics related to occupational security and safety, including the introduction of cutting-edge technological innovations and novel practices in the field.

The forum also featured several interactive sessions, providing attendees with opportunities to participate, ask questions and exchange experiences actively.

The seminar was a valuable learning experience for all attendees. It helped raise awareness of the importance of prioritising workers' and facilities' safety and security.

The seminar also gave participants the knowledge and skills to implement effective security and safety measures in their organisations.
