The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) held a workshop on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on society in Dhofar Governorate on Tuesday.
The workshop was attended by government employees, individuals, students, and job seekers. It was presented by Hamdan bin Mohammed al Alawi, Director of the Department of Developing the AI Program and Advanced Technologies at the MTCIT, and Tawa bint Abdullah al Dawood, Head of the Development and Studies Department at the same department. Dr Mashael bint Awad al Sieria from the University of Technology and Applied Sciences also presented a paper on the impact of AI on education.
The workshop aimed to review the developments of AI, the challenges and opportunities it can provide to society and the economy, build a society ready to deal with modern technologies, promote public understanding of AI and its use ethically and sustainably, and reduce fears related to AI.
The workshop covered the following topics: The definition of AI and advanced technologies; The impact of AI on job patterns; The future directions of AI; Practical applications of AI tools; and Importance of preparing for AI in the education system.
"The workshop is part of a series of workshops being held by the MTCIT to raise awareness about AI and its impact on society," said Hamdan bin Mohammed al Alawi. "We are committed to building a knowledge-based economy that is driven by innovation and technology." The workshop was a valuable opportunity for participants to learn about the future of AI and its impact on society. It also highlighted the importance of preparing for AI and the opportunities it presents.
