Al Buraimi: More than 60 per cent of construction work of Al Buraimi Science and Innovation Centre in Al Buraimi Governorate is complete. The RO 50,000 project is jointly set up by the Ministry of Education, Oman Oil, Orpic Group and Jusoor Foundation to instil the culture of scientific innovation in students as well as furnishing them with computer skills, thus preparing them to cope with the developments in the field of technology.
Awad bin Mohammed al Hinai, head of the innovation and scientific Olympiad department, said: "The total area of the centre is estimated at 1,500 square metres. It will have labs for robotics and artificial intelligence, science theatre, planetarium and a multi-purpose hall."
The Ministry of Education had signed two cooperation agreements with Oman Oil and Orpic Group and Jusoor Foundation for financing the establishment of two scientific innovation centres in the governorates of Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi at a cost of RO 1 million in 2019. The signing of the agreements comes within the context of the effective social partnership among the Ministry of Education, Oman Oil, Orpic Group and Jusoor Foundation in a number of educational projects.
