What extent can a man go and what not he can do when he is confronted with the question of his only son’s life is what the film ‘3Alzero’ shows the world in its sweet-bitter visualisation.
However, unbelievably, the film emanates mixed feelings at the end, and you will be forgiven if you forgot to wipe the tears of joy gushing slowly from the eyes.
A 95-minute heartfelt drama about the boundless love between a father and son starring Mohamed Ramadan and Monzer Mahran, ‘3Alzero’ is simply a feel good movie that has all the ingredients of keeping the audience riveted to their seats throughout.
Penned by Medhat El Adl and co-produced by VOX Studios, the production arm of VOX Cinemas, and El-Adl Group, ‘3Alzero’ portrays a powerful story about struggle, perseverance and the great lengths a single father is willing to go to save his terminally ill son, under the artistic directorship of Mohamed Gamal El Adl. Songs are written by Mostafa Hadouta.
Monzer Mahran has previously appeared in Ramadan’s music video for Aladdin Lamp and in ‘3Alzero’, Mahran has gone that extra mile in depicting the hapless yet ambitious boy who shares the space with Ramadan throughout.
Ramadan, at the age of 35, is enjoying major commercial success across Egypt and the Arab world with a huge impact on TV last Ramadhan season with director Mohamed Sami hit Gaafar El-Omda, is on an upscale journey with another successful year. He was honoured at the 12th Luxor African Film Festival that took place in February.
As a singer, he is also among the biggest summer stars with various releases featuring foreign stars; including Come Baby Come with Skales, Necessaire with Mario Fresh and Renvtø, and Tetabtab with Stefanos Pitsiniagkas.
‘3Alzero’ also boasts of an all-star cast including Nelly Karim, Jumana Murad and Islam Ibrahim and has already found its place among the thriller- family- drama genre, and is currently shown in cinemas across the GCC.
It is said that heard melody is sweet but unheard melody is sweeter and ‘3Alzero’ is one such unheard melody, one can vouch for.
