AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: A total of 79,034 tourists visited Al Jabal Al Akhdhar during the first half of this year, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The number of local visitors to Al Jabal Al Akhdhar was 28,406 whereas tourists from Saudi Arabia were 3,848 and those from Kuwait were 611, the UAE 329, Bahrain 273, Qatar 265. The number of tourists from other Arab countries reached 3,027 while the number of tourists from other nationalities reached 42, 275.
The second edition of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Festival will be held from today (Thursday) and will last until August 19. The festival aims to attract tourists from the Sultanate of Oman and abroad.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism affirmed that it has a strategic partner with the Office of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in organising the festival with the aim of introducing the cultural heritage and natural beauty of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar in particular and the Sultanate of Oman in general. The ministry urges entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises to participate in the festival to avail of the tourism promotional packages.
Ali bin Saif al Shukaili, Assistant Director of Heritage and Tourism Department in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, said the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism follows-up on tourism and hotel establishments and urges them to provide quality services to visitors during the festival to reflects a positive image of tourism in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar.
The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar is expected to witness active tourist activities during the festival period, the official said, explaining that this period will be exceptional especially for tourists coming from abroad and heading to Dhofar Governorate coinciding with khareef Salalah. — ONA
