The Sultanate of Oman has an abundant coastline of approximately 3,000 kilometres, stretching from the Musandam Governorate in the north to the Dhofar Governorate in the south. This extensive shoreline offers an appealing environment for both locals and residents, as well as tourists visiting Oman from various parts of the world.

Oman's coastal regions, particularly during the summer season, benefit from the monsoons arriving from the Indian Ocean, making them an excellent destination to beat the heat. However, many of these picturesque beaches need more essential facilities and services visitors require during day and night excursions. The absence of basic amenities, including toilets, chalets and small hotels, hamper the overall tourist experience.

During the autumn season, certain locations, such as Ras al Hadd, Ras al Jinz in the state of Sur, as well as Duqm, Barr al Hikman, and Shuwaymiyah, become attractive summer tourism destinations, offering moderate weather with temperatures ranging from the end of June to August. To fully capitalise on these natural wonders, there is a pressing need to invest in tourist services, such as chalets and small hotels along the coast. By doing so, these coastal sites can evolve into refreshing summer retreats with a pleasant climate.

Citizen Abdullah al Amri highlights the investment opportunities that exist for small and medium-sized companies or the government to leverage these coastal sites on a seasonal basis. These companies can establish camps and rest houses tailored for tourists and visitors, especially those travelling to the Dhofar Governorate during the Khareef season, seeking a night's rest along the coastal route.

Al Amri emphasises the importance of providing various services to visitors, while also considering auxiliary factors to stimulate tourism in different locations throughout the Sultanate of Oman, accommodating varying environments and climates, whether in summer or winter. There is a call to direct attention to the coastal strip of Al Sharqiyah South and Al Wusta Governorate, intending to transform them into vibrant tourist attractions, particularly during the summer months.

Anas Youssef points out that Al Seeb Beach attracts a large number of people, especially in the afternoon and evening, when they engage in beach soccer, walking, or simply enjoying the sea breeze until late at night. Despite its popularity, this beautiful beach lacks essential services, making it necessary to organise and provide entertainment options for children, ensuring a pleasurable experience for families.

'The Muscat Municipality, along with other responsible governorates, is urged to re-evaluate the development of beaches like Al Seeb and the other beautiful beaches scattered across Oman. It is crucial to prepare these coastal sites adequately for visitors, enhancing their overall experience and promoting sustainable tourism in the region,' Anas added.

Oman's coastal regions possess immense potential to be premier tourist destinations. By investing in essential tourist services and providing necessary facilities, Oman can show the allure of its coastal beauty and offer a new experience to visitors.
