LONDON: Nottingham Trent University recognised the academic excellence of Maryam Said al Maawali by granting her the Nottingham Business School Award for Best Overall Performance by a BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance Final Year Student.

Maryam deservedly won this award after passing all her modules and graduating with an Exceptional First Class as a valedictorian of her cohort with an overall GPA of 4 out of 4.

The Omani student was also nominated to deliver the alumni’s Vote of Thanks Speech as a recognition for her academic excellence.

Maryam expressed her gratitude for this recognition and said, “I dedicate this excellence to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for the attention he pays to the Omani youth and their education. I would also like to dedicate the award to my family, which gave me the due attention, care and trust during my education journey.”

“I am proud of the academic excellence I achieved at the university level in the finance and accounting programme, which is one of the most difficult academic programmes. Through this excellence, I tried to pay back to the government of my country and my family. I will continue my academic journey in a way that achieves my aspirations and serves my country in the next years in an attempt to contribute to its renewed renaissance," she added.

Amy Johnson, Senior Lecturer at the Accounting and Finance Department, said: “Maryam was an inspiration for all students and lecturers thanks to her academic excellence. The exam board commended her performance in the final exams. I congratulate her for receiving the Nottingham Business School Award for Best Overall Performance by a BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance Final Year Student.”
