Gulf Municipal Week symposium kicks off in Salalah

SALALAH: A three-day symposium on municipal development kicked off in Salalah on Tuesday under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohsin al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar municipality.


The Ministry of Interior organised the event in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC).


The symposium opening ceremony featured two visual presentations. The first presentation delved into the economic and tourism components of Dhofar Governorate, showcasing its potential as a thriving destination. The second presentation focused on the competition for development projects at the governorate level in the Sultanate of Oman, highlighting the country's commitment to growth and advancement.


The symposium revolved around four main issues: Food circulation by mobile food trucks; The role of investment in promoting the economic aspects of municipal work; Smart cities and emerging technologies in the development of municipal work; and development and beautification of cities.


In addition to the symposium sessions, participants will have the opportunity to visit several noteworthy service projects within Dhofar Governorate.


The symposium is a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative efforts in fostering sustainable municipal development across the region.


The event brought together experts and stakeholders from across the Gulf to discuss and share ideas on how to improve municipal services and promote sustainable urban development.


The symposium is to positively impact the future of urban living in the Gulf. The symposium outcomes will help to inform the development of municipal policies and strategies in the region, and they will also help to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable municipal development.
