Social Protection Fund offers childhood benefits

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Wednesday issued Royal Decree 52/2023 promulgating the Social Protection Law, after presenting the same before the Council of Oman.


The Social Protection Fund is an entity with administrative and financial independence established by Royal Decree No. (33/2021);


It is the official body responsible for social protection programs in the Sultanate of Oman. Its mission is to apply the provisions of the Social Protection Law and related legislation, and to cooperate with the authorities concerned with programs of protection, empowerment, economic and social inclusion, care and support of all kinds.


The fund seeks to improve the quality of life by providing social protection, enhancing investment in society through the development and implementation of policies and programs targeting the social and economic fields.


As for the childhood benefit, the program provides monthly financial support for Omani children from birth until the age of 18 years, to ensure that there is a minimum level of monetary social protection for this group in support of its needs at this stage in the amount of R10 riyals per month (starting from the month of the birth). Beneficiary child has to be Omani, must not have reached the age of 18, and must be a resident of the Sultanate of Oman.
