The revenue of 3 to 5-star hotels in Oman increased by 32 per cent until end-June 2023 in comparison to last year.
According to data from the National Centre for Statistics & Information (NCSI), 3 to 5 star hotels reported a revenue of RO 110.031 million during the first half of this year marking a 32 per cent increase from last year’s figure of RO 83.035 million.
The spike was a result of a 27.4 per cent increase in total guest numbers, and a 10.8 per cent increase in occupancy rate.
The total number of guests during the 1H 2023 reached 943,068. The figure was the highest in June with 140,440 guests. The month of April recorded the highest revenues of RO 17.661 million.
According to the data, Omanis represented 36 per cent of total guests, followed by Europeans who made up 27 per cent, and Asians who made up 15 per cent.
Moreover, GCC citizens made up 8 per cent of total guests, followed by other Arab nationalities (6 per cent), unstated nationalities (4 per cent), Americans (3 per cent), Australian / New Zealanders (2 per cent) and Africans (1 per cent).
Additionally, the data indicated an increase in the number of guests based on nationality in comparison to the previous year. Most notable is the increase of 252.2 per cent in the rate of hotel guests from Australia / New Zealand. During which the figure surged from 6,198 in 2022 to 21,834 in 2023.
This was followed by an increase of 54.0 per cent of Asian guests, and a 46.3 per cent increase within European guests.
