SALALAH: The inaugural event of Khareef Dhofar, "Kiddy Time," has kicked off at Salalah's Awqad Public Park on Saturday, offering an array of engaging activities exclusively designed for children. This programme, which runs till August 31, promises a memorable summer experience for kids.
Featuring themed villages inspired by beloved characters like Panda Village, Smurfs Village, and Masha and the Bear Village, children can immerse themselves in a world of wonder. Additionally, the "Dress Up in Wonderland" section allows children to unleash their imagination through costumes and create their own adventures.
Keeping up with the digital era, Kiddy Time presents a diverse collection of digital and interactive games. Theatre activities are also organised to nurture creativity and self-expression among young participants.
For the skating enthusiasts, a dedicated skating rink awaits, where children can glide and enjoy the thrill of this exhilarating sport.
Manea Al Masahli, the project owner, expressed his gratitude to Dhofar Municipality and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, stating, "I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Dhofar Municipality and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for their invaluable efforts, which have directly contributed to the realisation of our project goals. Their support has provided a platform for small enterprises to showcase their creative talents across various fields. Moreover, these enterprises will play a significant role in creating temporary job opportunities that hold the potential for future permanence."
Al Masahli emphasised the paramount importance of adhering to safety instructions at the site locations and following the guidance of safety guides, saying, "Ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants is our utmost priority. I urge everyone to diligently adhere to the prescribed safety guidelines and heed the instructions provided by our dedicated safety guides at the sites."
Other events of Khareef Dhofar will be in held in Ittin, Al Haffa, Salalah Park and Al Sa’adah Garden.
Ammar bin Obed Ghawas, Director of the Events and Awareness Department at Dhofar Municipality, said events in Al Haffa will be launched on July 25. Laser and drone shows will begin in Ittin on July 20.
Ghawas said illuminations will light up Salalah Park on July 20.
Many international restaurants and chefs are taking part in an event in Al Sa'adah Garden in early August. It will also host a cookery competition. Khareef Dhofar also includes Salalah International Chocolate Exhibition, Gulf Perfumes Exhibition and Gulf Fashion Show.
The Ministry of Information on Saturday started its visual, audio, print and digital coverage of Khareef Dhofar. Oman TV is covering the events in three advanced studios, including two mobile studios.
One can also access Ain app of MoI to keep track of radio and television broadcasts of all programmes and events related to the season. It has many videos of tourist sites in the Dhofar Governorate.
