MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education has released the results of the general education diploma exams and their equivalents for the first round of the academic year 2022-2023.

Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, has approved the general indicators for the exam results, which are as follows:

The General Education Diploma (Formal) saw 51,010 male and female students who appeared for the exams, with a success rate of 82.64 per cent.

The General Education Diploma for Private Schools (Bilingual) had 1,386 applicants, with a success rate of 91.89 per cent.

The Technical General Education Diploma of the Royal Guard of Oman Technical College (Bilingual) had 54 applicants, with a 100 per cent success rate.

The General Education Diploma and Islamic Sciences had 115 applicants, with a success rate of 98.25 per cent.

The General Education Diploma (Special Education) had 62 applicants, with a 100 per cent success rate.

The results will be available from 4 pm today July 13, through the SMS service provided by Omantel, Ooredoo, and Vodafone.

Applicants can check their results by sending a text message with their seat number to the number 90200. The results will also be available on the educational portal of the Sultanate of Oman.

To ensure a well-managed examination process, the Ministry has taken all necessary measures to conduct the exams in a calm and comfortable educational environment. A total of 360 examination centres were set up across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

Unfortunately, there were 58 violations of the regulations for administering the exams and their equivalents.

The Ministry has investigated each case and taken appropriate measures, as per Ministerial Resolution No 588/2015, which includes penalties for violating the exam rules.

The violations included cases of mobile phones and smart digital watches being seized at 9 cases, possession of unauthorised materials in 43 cases, disregard for regulations within the examination centres in about 5 cases, and one case of impersonation.

Penalties for the violators varied, ranging from deprivation of exam results for the specific subject in which the violation occurred, allowing it to be submitted in the second round, to cancelling the results of all subjects in some cases. The case of impersonation was referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Ministry is committed to reducing exam violations and has implemented measures to strengthen exam management controls. This includes increased oversight through visits by technical committees to exam centres.

For those who wish to request a re-correction of their examination books, they can submit an application through the educational portal of Oman. The applicant must fill out the designated form and then visit the Directorate General of Education in their respective governorate to complete other administrative procedures. The application process will be open from July 14 to July 20.

No applications will be accepted after this period, and the Ministry will ensure the rights of the students.

Applicants can only apply for re-correction for a maximum of three academic subjects. The application must be made within a week from the date of the announcement of the results.

Neither the student nor their guardian has the right to view the examination book. The Ministry forms committees to review the correction of the requested books and will inform the applicant of the results once the committees complete their work.
