Oman Olympic Secures 1-0 against Lebanon in Arab Sport Games

The Oman Olympic team achieved a triumph in the second match of the Arab Games football competition held in Algeria. Facing off Lebanon team at the May 19 stadium in Annaba, the Omani team emerged victorious with a score of 1-0.


Right from the start, the Omani team showcased their dominance, making numerous attempts to score the opening goal. However, the Lebanese team's defence put up a formidable resistance. It was in the 40th minute when Ahed al Mashaikhi surprised everyone with a direct free kick from far distance, which eluded goalkeeper Rami Mesli and found the back of the net, securing the first goal of the match for Oman.

In the remaining time of the first half, Oman persistently sought to extend their lead but was met with outstanding saves from Rami Mesli. As the first half drew to a close, the Oman Olympic team maintained a 1-0 advantage.


In the second half, Lebanon made efforts to equalise by changing their playing style. Nevertheless, Oman's strong midfield control impeded their progress. The Lebanese team got a single ball in the 90th minute, as Ali Qassas hit the ball far from the goal, so the match ended with the victory of the Omani team 1-0.


The Oman Olympic team raised its score with this victory to 4 points. While, the Lebanese team suffered their second defeat, and practically bid farewell to the tournament competitions from the group stage. In the confrontations of the same group, the Algerian Olympic team turned the tables on its counterpart, the Sudan Olympic team, securing a 2-1 victory The Algerian team raised its balance to 4 points, while the Sudan team's balance remained with three points in third place.

In the second group matches, the match between the Syrian team and its Palestinian counterpart ended in a draw 0-0. Similarly, the Saudi team tied against the Mauritanian team with a score of 1-1, as the Mauritanian team advanced with the goal of Sheikh Bey Ramadan in the 13th minute, but the Saudi team equalised through Suhaib al Zaid in the 26 minutes.


With the results of the second round, the four teams were equal in points, with two points each. The matches of the third and final round, which will be held on Saturday, will be decisive, as they will determine the qualifiers for the semifinals. And in the last round, the Saudi team will meet against Palestine, while the Mauritanian team will face its Syrian counterpart.


In the next round, the red warriors will play against Sudan on July 8. A victory or a draw would secure the Omani team a spot in the semifinals, scheduled to take place on July 11.
