MUSCAT: Al Mouj Golf has been nominated for six awards in the 2023 World Golf Awards and the twice-ranked World top 100 club is inviting golfers and non-golfers to get behind the oceanfront course by casting votes to help them win.

The awards are the most prestigious in the golfing world with votes made by leading names from the world of golf tourism and management, including past and current professionals, as well as being open to the media and the public.

The Greg Norman-designed course has been shortlisted across a range of categories including Best Golf Course in the Middle East and separately, Best Golf Destination, Best Golf Course in Oman, World’s Best Club House, World’s Best 9 Hole Course and the World’s Most Eco-friendly Golf Facility.

Voting is open until 1st September with the winners announced in October, and Al Mouj Golf is encouraging anyone with an interest in supporting the club.

The 72-par links course is one of the main leisure attractions within Al Mouj Muscat, the country’s leading lifestyle destination and, since opening in 2012, has achieved a number of notable successes including being the first in the country to earn PGA status. It has also won 22 international titles, hosted the Oman Open on three occasions, and was the first in the region to host the Oman Stage of the Asian Tour, the pan-Asian competition supported by LIV Golf.

Nasser bin Masoud al Shaibani, CEO of Al Mouj Muscat said: “We are particularly proud of the range of nominations which cover all aspects of our strengths from the playing experience and the maintenance and management of our course, to the social opportunities that make Al Mouj Golf such an attractive destination.

“It is also wonderful that once again, our eco-conscious approach to preserving the natural environment is being recognised and should we win in the eco-friendly category, our commitment to sustainability and golf will raise our profile even higher on the global stage. These awards are also the perfect platform to raise awareness of Oman’s natural beauty, widening its appeal to tourists from all over the world.”

Set along a two-kilometre stretch of coastline and against the striking backdrop of the Al Hajar Mountains, Al Mouj Golf offers players of all standards with a challenging game in a lush setting, accented with bunkers, water hazards and natural dunes. There is floodlit driving range and club house complete with international restaurant open seven-days-a-week, morning to night.
