The Oman Olympic team headed to the Algerian capital on Thursday, as they set off to take part in the Arab Sports Games. The event will be host by Algeria on July 2-14, attracting athletes across the Arab region.
Under the guidance of the national coach, Akram Habrish, a formidable roster of 22 players has been selected to represent Oman in Arab Sports Games. The team comprises exceptional talents, including Al Faraj al Kiyoumi, Ayman al Nabhani, Basil al Jabri, Maitham al Ajmi, Nasser al Rawahi, Ali al Balushi, Ahed al Mashaikhi, Osama al Hadabi, Abdullah al Fleiti, Salem al AbdulSalam, Khaled al Ghatarifi, Imran al Numani, Abdulhafed al Mukhaini, Omar al Salti, Youssef al Ghailani, Salem al Dawudi, Mazen Saleh, Saeed al Salami, Nibras al Ma’ashri, Abdulmajid al Balushi, Mohammad Abdulhakim, and Ali Musa al Hinai.
The tournament kicked off Omani team in Group A, where they will face Algerian counterparts on the July 2, at the 19 May stadium. Continuing their quest for victory, they will clash with Lebanon at the same stadium on Wednesday, July 5. The team's group-stage matches will culminate with a showdown against the Sudan team at Shabu Stadium on July 8.
In the second group, Palestine, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Mauritania will compete fiercely for a chance at the first and second semi-finals in both groups. The competition promises to showcase the immense talent and passion for sports within the Arab community.
The Oman Olympic team embarks on this journey, they carry the hopes and aspirations of the Omani fans. After their last successful participation in the fourth West Asian Championship held in Iraq.
