Oman Beach Volleyball end Asian Senior Championship with a loss against Australia

Oman Beach Volleyball teams ended their participation at the 2023 Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championship in Fuzhou, China with Ahmed al Hosni and Haitham al Shraiqi securing spot to the round 16 and could not progress to quarterfinals. They suffered a 2-0 loss against Australia. Oman’s pair began the championship strongly as they registered a 2-1 win over the Philippines. The scoreline of the sets ended at: 21-15, 22-24 and 11-15. Then, the Oman duo delivered top performance against Qatar’s pair Abdullah and M. Ihab to snatch a 2-0 triumph. The scoreline ended at 21-14 and 21-10. Later, the Indonesia team defeated Oman in the following match by 2-0 (18-21, 17-21). With two victories and one defeat, Oman progressed to round 16 and in this round they went down to a 2-0 (19-21, 11-21) loss against Australia.


Oman’s duo in team B comprising Nouh al Jalbobi and Mazin al Hashmi started with a 2-0 loss against New Zealand ‘s Reid and McManaway. Then, they recorded a 2/0 over Kazakhstan pair’s comprising from Kuleshov and Petrossyants. Later they received a 2-0 defeat against Australia’s duo Nicolaidis and Carracher.

Australia’s pair Zach Schubert and Tom Hodges emerged the title of the 2023 Asian Beach Volleyball Champions after they edged their teammate def McHugh/Burnett with a 2-0 to win the men’s gold medal in the final showdown which took place on Monday at Beach Sport Base of Pingtan in Fuzhou, China. In the men’s competition, Chinese top seeds Ha Likejiang/Wu Jiaxin, crashed out of the topflight competition following their 17-21, 19-21 loss to Saleminjehboroun Bahman/Shokati Shekarsarael Sina in the quarterfinals. The four-day event featured participation of 58 teams from 15 countries including 32 men’s teams. Oman’s A team of Al Hosni and Al Shraiqi grouped with Indonesia’s Sofyan and Danag; Qatar’s Abdullah and M. Ihab; the Philippines’ Garcia and Burlrago in pool H while Oman’s team B of Al Jalbobi and Al Hashmi clubbed with New Zealand (Reid and McManaway), Australia (Nicolaidis and Carracher) and Kazakhstan (Kuleshov and Petrossyants) in pool E.


Oman’s Mazin al Hashmi and Houd al Jalbobi ended the last edition of Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championship hosted in Bandar Abbas, Iran last year in fifth place while the Qatari duo Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan were crowned the champions.
