Omani construction firm Galfar has secured a substantial contract valued at RO 29 million from OQ Exploration and Production LLC. Under the contract, publicly trade Galfar will provide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for the Bisat Permanent Power Supply Project in OQ E&P’s Block 60 in central Oman.
The Bisat oilfield was commissioned by parent company OQ Group at a ceremony held earlier this year.
Production from the Bisat oilfield has grown from a modest 5,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2019 to an impressive 55,000 bpd in 2022. Production has since climbed to around 60,000 barrels per day. OQ's contribution to the total oil production in Oman has now soared to an impressive 220,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd).
The Bisat oilfield has successfully employed modern technologies to monitor carbon emissions, gas levels, flaring, and energy efficiency. Additionally, the operator has embraced the use of non-metal pipes in place of conventional metal pipes. This switch has facilitated prompt and flexible rectification procedures while mitigating risks associated with construction works and bolstering the pace of operations.
