Oman Met Office issued a weather forecast on conditions expected during Eid al Adha holidays indicating cooler temperatures and rains.
The days could be cooler during Eid holidays, according to the weather forecasters at Oman Met Office. But until then there are expectations of a rise in 'felt' temperatures in the coastal areas due to high humidity and wind activity during the noon period for the next two days.
During Eid holidays, the weather is expected to be affected by an upper air trough starting from June 28 to July 1, 2023. Temperature is expected to come down to a range between 35 to 45°C.
Clouds advection is expected to begin by Tuesday July 27th 2023, with chances of isolated rain, occasionally thunder showers during the afternoon and evenings the areas. The governorates that are expected to experience the weather conditions are the mountainous areas of Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Batinah South, Al Batinah North, Al Buraimi, Al Sharqiyah North and Al Sharqiyah South.
Oman Met Office said that on Wednesday, isolated thunder showers ranging from 10 to 30 mm may cause wadis to flow. Moderate fresh wind is expected with the speed of 15 to 25 Kt.
There are also expectations of the continuation of the sea wave rampage on the coasts of the Arabian Sea (2.5 - 4.5) metres.
Sea wave height of 1.5-2. 0 metres is forecast on the coasts of the Sea of Oman and the eastern coasts of Musandam Governorate from this evening until Tuesday evening.
The Civil Aviation Authority has requested public to take all precautions and make the holidays a safe one.
On Saturday, the desert regions witnessed a noticeable rise in maximum temperatures (ranging between mid-40s and early 50s), with the highest recorded in Fahud 50.5 degrees Celsius.
However, on Sunday morning there was spread of low clouds over parts of the coasts of the governorates of Al Sharqiyah South, Al Wusta, and Dhofar, and parts of the coasts of the governorates of Al Batinah North and Musandam.
There was also flow and spread of clouds of different heights over the governorates of Al Wusta, Dhofar and parts of the Al Dhahirah.
