Muscat: Oman Met Office on Thursday issued a heatwave warning for today and next two days, noting temperature might hit mid-forties and early fifties.
"High temperatures have been experienced today and is expected to be in the next two days as well, especially at noon (ranging between the mid-forties and early fifties) over the desert and open areas," a statement from the Weather Office said.
Oman Met Office has issued a warning to avoid direct exposure to sunlight in the afternoons.
To reduce and avoid sunstroke, heat exhaustion and other symptoms associated with high temperatures, especially for individuals work outdoors under direct sun and high temperatures.
Oman Meteorology has issued instructions to avoid sun stroke and heat exhausion:
1. Regulate and outline working hours so rest hours should be in between especially when temperatures reach its peak.
2. Drink enough water to avoid dehydration.
3. Train workers and supervisors on how to deal with heat stress cases.
4. Avoid being outdoors in the middle of the day to avoid direct exposure to intense sunlight.
