Oman Childhood Conference and Exhibition, which will be held for the first time in the Sultanate of Oman, will be held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 25 to 27 under the title 'Contemporary Directions in Raising Gifted and Talented Children - Towards a National Strategy for Gifted Care'.
The aim of the conference is to look at raising gifted and talented children, considering the human element as the true wealth of society and to develop public awareness. HH Sayyida Dr Muna bint Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, in her speech said: "The vision of the Children First Association was built on working to educate children, develop them and empower them in the educational, health and cultural fields to meet their needs, develop their capabilities and promote their rights to be active members of society."
She also mentioned the importance of the association’s keenness to hold the Oman Childhood Conference and Exhibition as the knowledge reference and a supportive platform for childhood in the Sultanate of Oman, and to give children the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. “Through this potential, children’s abilities, skills and talent indicators can be identified," she said.
The conference will bring together a group of academics, specialists and those interested in caring and educating gifted children from various Arab and foreign countries with the aim of exchanging experiences and spreading national, regional and international awareness of gifted and talented children.
The association seeks to benefit from several axes including anticipation of the future for children, strengthening the role of the family and the school in caring for and educating gifted children, highlighting role of civil society institutions and the private sector, voluntary and professional institutions.
The holding of the first childhood exhibition is also considered to be the largest event in regards to childhood and its needs in all fields in the Sultanate of Oman. The exhibition will provide all the services and products a child needs in one place, such as companies and stores for baby products, clubs, medical centres specialising in child care as well as educational and entertainment institutions.
This is in addition to many local and international agencies and specialised companies, providing training workshops, entertainment corners and theatrical performances for children.
