To spur urban growth in line with Oman Vision 2040, project proposals of three governorates were chosen in a contest.
The chosen proposals are the Boulevard Spray project in Dhofar, Ames Bay Development project in Musandam and the Remal Park project in South Al Batinah will be implemented in coordination between the government and the private sector., the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said on Sunday.
This was unveiled at an open meeting between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning ’s officials and governors in Muscat on Sunday.
The Boulevard Spray project will be implemented at a cost of RO 40 million in Salalah’s Itin. The project, which is expected to be complete in four years, will cover 470,000 square meters, and will feature fountains, restaurants, botanical garden, suspended walkways, theaters, shopping area, event space, exhibitions, etc.
The project aims to create an integrated entertainment venue for all local and international community groups in accordance with the customs and traditions of Oman. It aims to activate the role of institutions and society to promote local tourism.
It will receive about 800,000 visitors during the fall season and 200,000 visitors during the rest of the seasons, and it will provide 1,500 jobs.
The RO 6.9 million Ames Bay Development in Musandam's Khalidiya area in the Wilayat of Khasab, which is scheduled to be completed in less than two years, will provide strategic link between the various regions of the governorate. It will develop infrastructure, stimulate tourism and create new investment opportunities in the governorate. It will receive 500,000 visitors annually and will provide 62 jobs
The Remal Park project in the Khubt Al Jaadan area in the Wilayat of Nakhal, in South Al Sharqiyah, overlooking Wadi Abyadh, is expected to be ready in two years. Costing RO 6.9 million, the project aims to develop sustainable tourism and will employ small and medium-sized companies, thereby achieving in-country value. It will include an amusement park, cable car, resort, food truck and shops, among others.
The project is expected to receive 15,000 visitors per week and will provide 344 jobs.
The MoHUP stated that the projects are in line with the royal directives that all units of the state’s administrative apparatus should coordinate with the governorates in all matters related to the affairs of their governorates.
Eleven projects from all governorates were submitted for the contest.
After the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning evaluates the top three winning projects and approves them, the Ministry of Finance provides financial allocations for them.
