MUSCAT, JUNE 11
The Ministry of Energy and Minerals in Oman has announced that public bids are now open for mining sites dedicated to building materials in the Wilayat of Salalah (Dhofar Governorate). The registration period for the bids began in April and will now close on July 30, 2023.
There are three designated sites, located in Salalah city within the Dhofar Governorate, that cover a total area of approximately 5 km². These sites are specifically reserved for extracting building materials, such as sand, gravel, and rocks.
The government of Oman recognizes the significance of the mining sector and has revised the system for obtaining mining concession areas to resemble the procedures followed in the oil and gas industry. Certain sites have been set aside for local investors, while others will be made available to foreign investors as well.
Interested investors can find more information about the bidding process on the website of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.
"We are pleased to announce the opening of public bids for mining sites in Wilayat Salalah. This is an important opportunity for investors to participate in the development of the mining sector in Oman. We encourage all interested parties to submit their bids by the deadline of July 30, 2023," the Ministry added in a post.
