Due to Biparjoy, Sunday might see a chance of storm surge causing sea water inundation over low level coastal areas of Al Sharqiyah South, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.It continues to move north towards coastal areas of India and Pakistan.
The Met Office has stated that the tropical cyclone is likely to intensify to CAT 2 storm with the wind speed ranging between 83 to 90 Knots with high and medium clouds on Saturday.
The National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre issued the third statement on tropical cyclone Biparjoy classified as category1 stating that the latest weather maps and analysis indicated the system lay centred on latitude 15.5 N and longitude 67.4E. The wind speed around the centre was estimated to be between 64 to 70 Knots on Friday.
However on Saturday the tropical cyclone is expected to reach category 2 and by Sunday the system is expected to come down to category 1. The centre of the tropical cyclone is 1,055 km away from the Sultanate of Oman’s coast. The clouds are 580 km away from the coast of Oman. According to the weather forecasters there ought to be no impact on the weather conditions of the Sultanate of Oman within the next three days. The wind speed around the centre of the storm on Saturday is expected to be between 65 and 80 Knots.
