MUSCAT: In a significant development for importers of personal care products and cosmetics, the second stage of import procedures has been set in motion. These procedures, aimed at bolstering consumer safety, mandate importers to submit essential technical documents for their registered products, according to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
In adherence to Ministerial Decision 199/2021, importers must now prioritize compliance with the Gulf standard specification safety requirements, which have been elevated to the status of the binding Omani standard specification. This move ensures a unified and stringent safety standard across the country.
To expedite the import process and eliminate potential bottlenecks at border crossings, importers are strongly encouraged to leverage the Ministry's advanced online platforms for document submission. This digital approach not only streamlines the procedure but also guarantees the timely arrival of shipments.
Outlined below are the crucial steps involved in submitting the requisite documents:
1. Access the user-friendly "Invest Easy" portal to initiate document submission.
2. Conduct a thorough review of the documents to ensure full compliance with the prescribed import permit procedures.
3. Await approval from the Ministry subsequent to their meticulous scrutiny of the submitted documents.
4. Utilize the efficient (Bayan) system to submit the import approval permit.
5. Upon successful attainment of the import approval permit, shipments can be promptly released from the designated border crossings.
