In a significant move to restructure Oman's electricity sector and improve efficiency, Nama Holding has announced the commencement of operations for its distribution and supply companies. This development comes in accordance with government directives issued in December 2021 and highlights the group's commitment to professionalism and equality.
Working closely with key authorities, including the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, the Oman Investment Authority, and the Public Services Regulatory Authority, Nama Holding successfully merged and restructured several companies into two main entities: Nama Electricity Distribution and Nama Supply. These companies will now be responsible for managing and providing electricity services to all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, with the exception of Dhofar Governorate. Nama Dhofar Services Company will continue to oversee electricity, water, and sewage services in that region.
With a clear division of responsibilities, Nama Electricity Distribution will focus on providing reliable distribution services, including metering, low-voltage networks, building lines, and transformers. Nama Supply, on the other hand, will handle billing and collection operations. The appointments of Eng Alaa al Lawati as CEO of Nama Electricity Distribution and Salem al Kamyani as CEO of Nama Supply demonstrate the group's dedication to efficient leadership.
To ensure a smooth transition, Nama Holding efficiently transferred assets and employees from the merged companies to the new entities, aligning each individual's expertise with the appropriate roles. This meticulous approach guarantees business continuity and project completion. Additionally, this restructuring initiative aims to review costs within the electricity sector, enhance system efficiency, develop services, and elevate customer satisfaction by embracing technological advancements in customer service.
As part of its comprehensive restructuring efforts, Nama Holding aims to cover all aspects of the electricity sector and its services. Unifying all electricity services under the name "Namaa Services" provides subscribers with a centralized platform. This unified platform includes a service hall and a single contact number, streamlining the customer experience. Furthermore, Nama Holding has prioritized the development of the electronic Nama platform, incorporating various digital media and mobile applications to deliver an all-encompassing service catering specifically to the electricity sector.
Alaa bin Hassan al Lawati, CEO of Nama Electricity Distribution Company, emphasized the significance of the merger, stating, "This merger will consolidate all services related to the distribution of electricity networks, including meter readings, network connections to households, and resolving technical challenges. The total value of the company's assets exceeds RO 2 billion."
Ahmed bin Amer al Mahrezi, Acting CEO of Nama Group, highlighted the successful transition, saying, "We have efficiently distributed the assets and employees of Muscat Electricity Distribution, Mazoon Electricity, Majan Electricity, and Tanweer companies to the two newly formed entities: 'Nama Electricity Distribution' and 'Nama Supply.' Each company has been allocated responsibilities according to their expertise, ensuring uninterrupted operations and project completion."
Salem bin Said al Kamyani, CEO of Nama Supply Company, stated, "The consolidation of electricity supply companies will bring about significant advancements and enhancements in our service offerings. This initiative is set to boost operational efficiency, reduce costs, and greatly enhance the overall customer experience."
