Muscat: Oman Club will be the Sultanate of Oman representatives in the 25th Asian Men's Club League Handball Championship that will be staged in Isfahan, Islamic Republic of Iran, from June 1 to 11.
Oman Club are placed in Group A of the championship.
The draw for the event was staged at the Asian Handball Federation headquarters at South Surrah, Kuwait on April 6. The eleven participating teams were divided into two groups, as follows:
Group A: Foolad Mobarakeh Sepahan SC (Iran), India Club (India), Oman Club (Oman), Kazma SC (Kuwait), Al Rayyan Club (Qatar)
Group B: Al Kuwait Club (Kuwait), Junior Club (China), Tashkent Club (Uzbekistan), Al Duhail Club (Qatar), Shahid Shameli Kazeroon Club (Iran), Al Najma Club (Bahrain).
Younis bin Hamid al Azzan, the club's secretary, heads the Oman delegation, and Tunisia's Mongi Boughtas leads the team. The Oman Club will have Tunisian goalkeeper Marouan Lasoussi to safeguard their nets.
Kuwait Club were crowned the 2022 champions in Hyderabad, India, when they beat Najma club-Bahrain 28-23 in the final match.
The Oman Club team will begin the competition on June 2, with India Club. On June 3, they will meet Kazma club – Kuwait and the Omani club's third match will be with Iran's Foolad Mobarakeh Sepahan SC on June 5.
The top four teams will qualify to the semifinals, and then top two will play in the final match.
