Muscat: Oman Met Office has issued heavy rain alert again today, Wednesday 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Opportunities for cumulus cloud activity will continue today, Wednesday, Oman Met Office said, in parts of the Hajar Mountains and neighboring areas, and sporadic rain will be thundery at times accompanied by active downward winds during the noon period.
The areas that are expected to be affected are Al Hajar Mountains (Al Dakhiliyah), South Al Batinah, Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah and coasts of Dhofar Governorate and adjoining mountains.
Expectations of the formation of thunderstorm clouds continue on the Hajar Mountains, with preference to the central and eastern parts of the Hajar.
Chances of sporadic rain of varying intensity continues for the coasts and mountains of Dhofar Governorate.
Cumulonimbus clouds may form over deserts during the afternoon and before sunset as a result of the advance of westerly winds, clouds of local origin and moist winds from the Arabian Sea.
