The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit have jointly announced the commencement of the second phase of Manjam Lab - an initiative to streamline the procedures of 120 government services to make them more accessible and user-friendly.

The second phase of Manjam Lab s is being conducted at the Oman Oil and Gas Institute and involves the participation of ten government institutions. These institutions have been divided into five laboratories, each led by a service streamlining supervisor, a trainer, and a documenter. The documenter's role is to document the current procedures for each service and propose improvements for the future.

The targeted institutions in this phase include the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Public Authority for Social Insurance, Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Public Prosecution Office, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Environment Agency, Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and the Supreme Judicial Council.

The first phase of Manjam Lab successfully simplified the procedures of 145 services, achieving a 100% simplification rate for the targeted services. This included services such as connecting utilities, applying for job opportunities, obtaining building permits, and requesting various certificates.

The process of simplifying procedures is conducted in four stages. The first stage involves studying the current situation, identifying areas of weakness and challenges, and addressing them accordingly. The second stage focuses on envisioning the future state of the services. The third stage includes quality control, where stakeholders review the re-engineering document, and a quality control team ensures its accuracy. The fourth and final stage consists of approval, where the document is amended based on feedback, re-reviewed with stakeholders, and ultimately approved by the general managers.
