ISLAMABAD: The State Council delegation made a significant contribution to the proceedings of the International Parliamentary Conference (IPC) held in Islamabad, marking the 50th anniversary of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Under the theme “Our Constitution Guarantees Our Freedoms,” the conference brought together heads of councils, parliaments and representatives from international and regional organisations. The event focused on crucial topics such as maintaining a balance between executive, legislative and judicial functions, as well as addressing challenges and opportunities in the pursuit of inclusive and egalitarian societies.

Led by Shaikh Dr Al Khattab bin Ghaleb al Hinai, Vice-President of the State Council, the delegation actively engaged in sessions covering various subjects, including the role of constitutions in a rapidly changing world, the delicate equilibrium between stability and adaptability, federalism, delegation of powers, and the crucial aspect of constitutional representation.

The State Council delegation comprised distinguished members, namely Wali bin Nasser al Shukaili, Awad bin Mohammed al Mashikhi and Yaqoub bin Yousef al Kamashki, who actively contributed to the enriching discussions and exchange of ideas during the two-day conference.

The participation of the State Council delegation in this significant event underscores the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to fostering international cooperation, promoting democratic values and strengthening the bonds of friendship between Oman and Pakistan. — ONA
