Muscat: The Environment Authority and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s West Asia Office on Tuesday signed via video conferencing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of the environment.
The MoU provides for the conservation, protection, promotion and support of nature and natural resources, including consolidating biodiversity in all parts of the world.
The signing of the MoU reflects the two sides’ keenness to promote these common goals and objectives within the scope of their respective competences and as part of their joint vision.
The MoU was signed by Dr Abdullah Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, and Sami Dimassi, UNEP Representative and the Regional Director of the West Asia Office.
The MoU provides for cooperation between the two parties in the fields of nature, including the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems and combating pollution. It also sets grounds for fostering cooperation in exchanging expertise and developing capacities in the field of the environment.
