The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) launched the second edition of the Entrepreneur Readiness programme.

Existing small and medium business owners and those who wish to start their own enterprises, can now register for the foundation or the existing projects tracks.

Badriya al Foori, Director of the Authority's Development and Empowerment Department, stated that the programme aims to provide existing and aspiring business owners with the necessary skills to manage their institutions in accordance with modern business management standards.

According to Al Foori, more than one thousand beneficiaries signed up for the first edition of the programme in 2022.

"More than 1,000 beneficiaries graduated from last year's edition of the programme within three tracks: the foundation track, the enhancement track and the advanced track." “There are entrepreneurs whose leadership capabilities have been strengthened in terms of modifying and developing their institutions and they have been able to manage them better. There are also entrepreneurs who have applied for financing to strengthen and develop their institutions and thus improved their ability to manage the resources available in their institutions.” She added: “With regard to the foundation track, there is a large group of young people who established their own enterprises. This, of course, led to attracting manpower and employment in the market, and it certainly has a wide economic return for small and medium enterprises.” The programme will target 900 beneficiaries, and is a prerequisite for applying for financing from the Authority's lending portfolio.

Prospective applicants can learn more about the programme and submit their applications through the Authority’s official website.
