After several days of respite, heat has build up in most parts of the Sultanate of Oman. The weather remained comparatively cool during the whole of April due to rains in some places, but suddenly the temperatures have changed from Monday. On Tuesday, the mercury crossed 40°C in several parts of the country.
Places like Fahud and Qarn Alam recorded the highest temperature of 42°C in the last 24 hours. The highest temperatures in Zamaim, Al Sinaina and Hamrat ad Daru ranged between 41.1°C and 41.2°C. Maqshan, Marmul and Haima witnessed temperatures ranged between 40.6°C and 40.9°C.
Temperatures in Al Seeb, Nizwa, Adam, Mahout and Thamrait recorded 41 degrees Celsius, and Duqm saw the highest at 43 degrees Celsius.
Overall, skies remained clear over most of the governorates, with a chance of dust rising due to fresh winds over the desert and open areas. Met Office indicated low horizontal visibility in the desert and open areas due to active northwesterly winds during the next three days.
Most of the governorates are experiencing westerly to northwesterly light to moderate occasionally fresh air, which might rise the dust. Westerly winds generally carry dust. This wind originates from the Arabian Gulf and moves towards the Sultanate of Oman.
Reports say the westerly wind usually makes the atmosphere hot and dry, and maybe it is time for the cotton fabric to make the appearance.
Along the Sea of Oman coast, winds will be northeasterly light to moderate, while over the rest of the governorates, winds will be northwesterly light to moderate occasionally fresh over parts of desert and open areas. Along the Arabian Sea coast, the wind will be southerly to southwesterly, moderate to fresh.
