Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will perform Eid prayers at Al Khor Mosque in Muscat Governorate, which has been hailed as a beacon of knowledge. It is one of the oldest mosques in the country and is located adjacent to Al Alam Palace and Al Jalali and Al Mirani Forts.
Al Khor Mosque is one of the historical landmarks in Muscat Governorate, with many scholars, judges, and governors having graduated from it. Over the years, the Mosque has been renovated several times by various Sultans and in 1980, Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos also renovated it.
The Mosque has been described as a unique structure, featuring extensive use of tinted glass, which makes up most of its outer walls. It is perfectly complemented by white marble, blue and brown tiles, and golden scripts of the Holy Quran.
The interiors of the mosque highlight the beauty of the tinted glass during day time.
