Muscat: Due to the expected heavy thundershowers during the afternoon and evening hours over the governorates of South al Sharqiya, North al Sharqiya, Al Hajar Mountains and the adjoining areas, and Al Wusta (between 20 mm and 45 mm), the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) advises all to take precautions during thundershowers rain, and not to cross wadis (flash floods) and avoid low laying areas and not to sail during the alert period.
Alerts:
Heavy rainfalls expected may range between 20-45 mm and may cause flash floods (wadis).
2. Fresh downdraft with a speed of 15 to 35 KT (28-64 km/h).
Poor horizontal visibility due to dust rising during thundershowers.
An upper air trough will affect the Sultanate of Oman starting today (April 18) until Friday, April 21, 2023.
The center indicated that there is a chance of cloud advection and isolated thundershowers associated with occasionally fresh downdrafts over the Al Hajar Mountains range and adjacent areas.
The peak of the effect of the trough is expected over the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Al Dakhyliah.
