Muscat Municipality concludes Ramadhan sports tournaments

MUSCAT: Muscat Municipality successfully concluded its annual Ramadhan sports tournaments for this year. The competitions included football, volleyball and table tennis, with a total of 285 players participating. The tournaments were held in the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality building in Seeb and ended with a grand closing ceremony held under the auspices of Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality.


The football tournament saw nine teams and a total of 153 players competing for the championship title. The team of the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Al Amerat emerged as the champions, while the team of the General Directorate of Information Technology secured the runner-up position. Younes al Rushdi was declared the best player of the tournament, Badr al Hinai won the best goalkeeper award, and Mahmoud al Harrasi received the tournament’s top-scorer award.


The volleyball tournament saw seven teams and 105 players participating, with the General Directorate of Projects and Landscaping winning first place, followed by the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Bausher. Mansour al Qanoubi was declared the best player in the tournament.


In the table tennis tournament, 27 players participated and Ali al Hashemi from the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Muscat emerged as the champion, followed by Yaqoub al Amri from the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Al Amerat. Fahad al Azri from the Events and Awareness Department secured the third position.


The tournaments witnessed intense competition among the participants, highlighting their skills and technical performance levels. In recognition of their role and sponsorship of the championship, Ahmed al Humaidi honoured Al Seeb Sports Club, Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals and Clinics, Al Amiri Shopping Center and Telatala al Rafidain Trade Store.


The Muscat Municipality organises sports activities for its employees to invest in their sports energies and talents, utilise their time for physical and mental benefits, promote commendable competition, strengthen relations between employees and participating teams from all municipal units and achieve goals through purposeful activities that develop capabilities.
