Ahli Sidab Club ‘A’ emerged victorious in the Under-23 Triplets Basketball Championship Cup. The tournament was organised by the Oman Basketball Association (OBA), represented by the 3×3 committee for the game.

The competition was held in the sub-hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, with the participation of 12 teams that included club players and resident players of Oman.

In the final match, Ahli Sidab ‘A’ defeated Masirah 20-19 to clinch the championship cup and gold medals. The Golden Arion team secured third place after defeating Ahli Sidab ‘B’ 18-11.

The tournament featured strong competition among the teams in the preliminary and final rounds, with the teams divided into three groups. The first and second-place winners and the two best third-place teams qualified for the finals, which were played by the knockout system.

Following the tournament, OBA Chairman Eng Khalfan bin Saleh al Naabi, chief guest of the ceremony crowned the winning teams. The Ahli Sidab ‘A’ won the championship cup and gold medals, Masirah won the silver medals, and the Golden Arion team won the bronze medals.

Al Naabi praised the technical levels exhibited during the recent Basketball Trios Tournament and extended his congratulations to the first-place finishers. In his statement, he expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the tournament and the emergence of several promising talents that can potentially serve the national teams.

"The tournament witnessed high technical levels and was able to produce several promising talents that serve the national teams," said the OBA chief. "We are keen to continue our interest in the game of basketball trios to nurture talents and work to develop their levels so that we can build strong teams capable of competing in the upcoming tournaments."

NEW TREND

According to Al Naabi, basketball trios are one of the most popular competitions among young people in Oman, and their popularity is due to their ease of spread. He also pointed out that basketball trios have become an Olympic game, which means that the Sultanate of Oman can participate in upcoming foreign tournaments. To promote this competition further, the Oman Basketball Association has developed an ambitious plan to organise various tournaments.

"We believe that basketball trios have great potential in Oman and can help us achieve our goals of nurturing young talents and building strong teams," added Al Naabi. "We will continue to work hard to promote this competition and create more opportunities for our players to excel."
