Seeb prevail over Ahli Sidab in Ministry’s Shield

MUSCAT: Al Seeb Club emerged victorious in a thrilling basketball match against Ahli Sidab Club with a score of 59-49. The match was held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex indoor courts in Bausher, as part of the second group competitions of the 13th edition of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Basketball Shield for the 2022-2023 season.


The match was an intense and exciting one, with both sides putting up a good fight. Al Seeb dominated the first and fourth quarters of the match, while Ahli Sidab managed to win the second and third quarters. In the end, Al Seeb emerged as the winner of the match. The victory places Al Seeb at the top of their group in the preliminary round.


The match started with a quick attack from Al Seeb, with Muawiyah al Harthy successfully shooting to earn the first two points. Ahli Sidab responded with a three-pointer through Khaled al Hashemi, followed by a basket of two points by Himyar al Hasani. Al Seeb scored 15 points and Ahli Sidab earned 11 points in the first quarter, ending with Seeb leading with a score of 20-16.


The second quarter saw Ahli Sidab being more active than they were in the first quarter, scoring 11 points and reducing the difference. Al Seeb scored 9 points but remained in the lead with a score of 29-27 at the end of the first-half.


In the third quarter, Ahli Sidab continued their offensive and pressing performance, taking advantage of the mistakes of Al Seeb. They managed to score 16 points, which enabled them to equalise the score. Al Seeb could only score 10 points, resulting in Ahli Sidab leading with a score of 43-39 at the end of the third quarter.


In the fourth quarter, Al Seeb returned to form, bringing the score closer and advancing by a good margin. Their players managed to add 20 points, while Ahli Sidab scored 6 points, resulting in Al Seeb defeating Ahli Sidab with a score of 59-49.


The match was moderated by Rashid al Mushaifari as the first referee, Mazen al Hilali as a second referee, Ali al Salmani as a third referee, and the table officials included Mahmoud al Ajmi, Ghaleb al Hasani, Fatima al Harthy, and Fares al Khalasi as a technical observer.
