As rains and thunderstorms continue across various governorates, the Wilayat Al Hamra received the highest rainfall so far. The Oman Met Office said a number of wilayats in the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah are witnessing rains of varying intensity which caused wadis to overflow.
The impact of upper trough will continue on Wednesday over Al Wusta and Dhofar.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, Jaifar bin Hamad al Busaidy, weather forecaster at Civil Aviation Authority, said: "The Wilayat of Al Hamra in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate recorded the highest amount of rainfall of 28 mm so far, followed by Saiq in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar with 9.4 mm and 9 mm in the wilayats of Bukha and Izki."
The aerial picture shows activity of thunder clouds with rain of varying intensity accompanied by active winds at times in South Al Dakhiliyah (wilayats of Adam and Manah) and several wilayats of North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah and sporadic cloud activity in Al Wusta and Dhofar will bring sporadic rain of varying intensity.
Meanwhile, the northwesterly winds have begun and the weather forecaster at the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre said: “The northwesterly winds bring dryness with it. We do not expect any further development of clouds in the northern areas of the Sultanate of Oman.”
The impact of the upper trough will still be experienced in the coastal areas of the Arabian Sea.
Later, there are chances of northwesterly winds to bring down the temperature, according to the weather forecaster.
Meanwhile, the Royal Oman Police on Tuesday said that there is no truth in the video that was being circulated on the social media about the drifting of a school bus in a flowing wadi with a group of students in the Wilayat of Izki. They said that the bus had broken down earlier and the students had already been transported safely by another bus.
