The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning seeks to utilise government lands optimally and sustainably for investment by providing electronic housing options for citizens who are eligible to be granted government housing lands.
Electronic housing options aim to enhance options, safety, transparency, and keeping pace. Housing options are available under the following heads: Choose your land, Own your land, Plan your land, Sorouh, and Sorouh Plus.
Mazen bin Mohammed al Shahourzi, General Director of Geographical Information at the ministry, said, "In line with our transformation in the two sectors, the comprehensive digital transformation initiatives come to move our services to a high level of proficiency and professionalism, to simplify and improve the procedures and services provided."
The ministry started sending text messages to citizens who deserved residential lands last year. It stated that this comes within the 'Choose your land' service to start the selection process from three options electronically. The 'Choose your land' service allows citizens to choose through interactive geographic maps that show the location and details of the plot.
More than 23,000 families were able to choose residential land through the digital 'Choose your land' service during the year 2022. For the year 2023, the ministry is targeting to distribute more than 23,000 plots of land.
The ministry has also provided a new option for those wishing to purchase land (buy your own land) at a price that is subsidised by the government. The option is for those who have not yet obtained government land.
