Bahla: The Bahla Mosque in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate was inaugurated on Friday under the auspices of Dr Muhammad bin Saeed Al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.
The Bahla Mosque is an architectural icon due to its unique modern touches that reflect the Islamic architecture of the Sultanate of Oman. It is one of the most important mosques due to its presence in the heart of Bahla and serves a large segment of citizens and residents of the wilayat.
The mosque was built on a total area of 900 square meters with a capacity of 2130 male worshipers and 120 female worshipers. It contains toilets, two internal and external areas to perform ablution, in addition to the residence of the imam and his assistant.
Abdul Rahman bin Saeed Al Abri, Director of the Office of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in the Wilayat of Bahla, said: "The mosque will have a prominent role in reviving the area by holding Friday prayers and religious lectures that will have a great impact on the souls of the people of the region. The mosque became a reality thanks to the efforts of the people who joined hands with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and the relevant authorities in overcoming difficulties, facilitating matters and issuing permits for the success of this community initiative.
Al Abri added that it is well known that the mosques and the houses of Allah are the shelters to which people fgather for prayers.
The inauguration and Friday prayers were attended by governors, members of the Shura Council, officials and people. — ONA
