The competitions of His Majesty the Sultan's Cup for Camel Racing 2023 began on Monday at Al Fulaij Racecourse in the Wilayat of Barka, which comes as a conclusion to the annual festival of private camel racing in its 20th season, and it will include 56 races over four days.
As many as 27 cars and 16 icons including five HM Cups will be presented as prizes for the final races in six categories, ‘Hagayeg’, ‘Lagaya’, ‘Ardah’, ‘Al Ythaa’, ‘Al Thanaya’, and ‘Al Hool’ divided into four days.
The opening day is allocated for ‘Hagayeg’ which is for two-year-old camels (4 km), competing in 22 rounds, 14th rounds to the ‘Al Bakar’ and 8th to the ‘Al Jadaan’ with nine cars, two icons, and cash prize for the top ten.
‘Al Taiarah’ claimed the opening round owned by Hamdan bin Khushir al Jahfi. While ‘Mufreh’ owned by Khamis bin Abdullah al Saadi won first place in the second round. In the third round, ‘Amseh’ came first owned by Mubarak bin Hamad al Jedili. The fourth round was claimed by ‘Almnarah’ owned by Ghosn bin Saeed al Musalmi.
In the fifth round, ‘Mushgelah’ owned by Awadh bin Ali al Balushi came first. ‘Al Shadi’, owned by Yasser bin Saeed al Wahibi, snatched the sixth round. ‘Wazn’, owned by Saeed bin Nasser al Hashemi, won first place in the seventh round. The eighth round was claimed by ‘Khal’ owned by Ali bin Abdullah al Balushi. The ninth round was snatched by ‘Mthhel’, owned by Salim bin Saeed al Jahfi.
SAMHA, RADAD WIN HONOURS
‘Samha’, owned by Mohammed bin Rashid al Zari, won the tenth round. In 11th round, ‘Shandara’ owned by Maher bin Musabah al Rashidi came first and ‘Jazeel’ owned by Hammoud bin Abdullah al Muharbi took the 12th round. In the 13th round, ‘Anjaz, owned by Badr bin Hamad al Derei, came first. ‘Al Afret’, owned by Hamad bin Saed al Omari, won first place in the 14th round.
In the 15th round, ‘Sarabah’, owned by Saeed bin Mohammed al Hajri, came in first place. ‘Shaheen’, owned by Nasser bin Salim al Owaisi, claimed the 16th round. The 17th round was snatched by ‘Fn’ owned by Saeed bin Nasser al Hashemi and the 18th round was claimed by ‘Majd’ owned by Hamad bin Saeed al Nusairi. ‘Jabarah’ owned by Hamdoun bin Ali al Owaisi took first place in the 19th round.
‘Sarab’, owned by Abdullah bin Hamad al Omari, came first in the 20th round. The 21st round was claimed by ‘Al Shaheenih’, owned by Obaid bin Alabd al Wahibi, while the last round was snatched by ‘Radad’ owned by Salah bin Saeed al Wahaibi.
The competition will continue on its second day, with 13 rounds for the ‘Lagaya’ category for three-year-old camels (5 km), with six cars, two icons, and a cash prize for the top ten.
