Oman, Russia review joint cooperation

MUSCAT: Shaikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, on Wednesday received a delegation of the Russian side of the Parliamentary Friendship Group between the State Council and the Russian Federation Council under the chairmanship of Mohmad Isaevich Akhmadov as part of the delegation’s official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

At the beginning of the meeting, the chairman of the State Council welcomed the members of the delegation wishing them a pleasant stay in the Sultanate of Oman, noting the distinctive Omani-Russian relations and the keenness of the two countries to develop them in the political, economic and commercial fields to serve the common interests.

The chairman of the State Council said the prepared programme of meetings will certainly contribute to enhancing cooperation between the two sides. The programme, he said, includes meeting with the chairman of the Investment Authority, the minister of higher education, research and innovation, as well as a number of government officials. The meetings aim at achieving the development goals witnessed by the Sultanate of Oman in all fields. The chairman of the State Council expressed his hope for more cooperation between the two countries under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Council of the Russian Federation expressed his happiness to visit the Sultanate of Oman and his aspiration for further development, prosperity and growth for the relations between the two friendly countries. He stressed the common denominators between the two countries particularly with regard to the development of parliamentary cooperation, trade exchange and the distinguished relations between the two sides. He praised the wise foreign policy adopted by the Sultanate of Oman.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Friendship Group between the State Council and the Russian Federation Council held a session of talks during which the relations between the two countries were reviewed and ways to enhance them in various fields. During the session, they discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in all fields to serve their common interests.
