Oman underscored the importance of intensifying international efforts to tackle climate change, reduce carbon emissions, invest in renewable energy and green hydrogen, and encourage innovation to spur growth and stability.


This was stated by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, while speaking at Raisina Dialogues in New Delhi on Friday.


He called on everyone to take advantage of the promising opportunities provided by the renewable energy sector while highlighting the facilities Oman offers to attract renewable energy investments.


Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, received Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr, during a meeting of G20 Foreign Ministers in New Delhi on Friday.


During the meeting, Sayyid Badr conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Majesty's best wishes for further growth and prosperity to Prime Minister Modi and the Indian people. His Majesty the Sultan also wished further progress in bilateral relations.


His Majesty the Sultan further wished success to the Indian Prime Minister while presiding over and hosting G20 meetings during 2023.


Sayyid Badr met with Dr S Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs. During the meeting, they affirmed the keenness of the two countries to enhance the existing cooperation as well as the continuation of exchange of knowledge and experience.


Sayyid Badr thanked India for inviting Oman as a guest of honour in the G20 meetings, reflecting the depth of relations between the two friendly countries.


Dr Jaishankar praised Oman for its constructive contributions in G20 meetings and its efforts in search for consensus on global issues and challenges.


Sayyid Badr also held a meeting with a number of business executives, investors and companies.


The meeting discussed trade and investment relations and existing Oman-India partnerships. It also reviewed the investment opportunities offered by Oman, as well as the incentives and facilities available to business owners.


The meeting also discussed partnership opportunities in education, health, technology, IT and renewable energy.


It was attended by Issa al Shibani, Oman's Ambassador to India; Pankaj Khimji, Adviser for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; and Ambassador Khalid al Muslahi, Head of the Minister’s Office.
