Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)on Sunday issued a set of guidelines that need to be followed while bringing dogs and cats into Oman.
The agency urged airlines flying into the Sultanate to ensure all such guidelines are met before importing pets. CAA also released a list of dogs that are banned in the country.
Here are the health requirements that need to be followed while importing pets (dogs and cats):
1. An import permit issued by the Sultanate of Oman through the Bayan website
(https://www.customs.gov.om) in, advance, before shipment.
2. Veterinary Health Certificate for Export from the competent authority in the country of
export.
3. Age of the pet should exceed 04 months old.
4. ID accepted is a Microchip, accompanied by a vaccination booklet.
5. Rabies Vaccinations - with a validity of over a month and less than a year from the date of
administration.
6. Pets (cat/dog) travelling into the Sultanate of Oman should be subjected to not less than 03
months and not more than 12 months prior to shipment to Rabies Neutralization
Antibody Titer Test Certificate with a satisfactory result.
7. In the case of dogs, should not be amongst the banned dog species listed below:
• Pitbull.
• Staffordshire Terrier.
• American Bully.
• Mastiff.
• Fila Brasileiro.
• Dogo Argentino,
• Japanese Tosa.
• Rottweiler.
• Doberman Pinscher
• Presa Canario.
• Boxer.
• Boerboel.
• Caucasian Shepherd Dog.
• Anatolian Karabash.
• Great Dane.
• Any mixed breed of the above-mentioned breed of dogs.
CAA said if any violation of the above-mentioned health requirements is detected, the violator bears all legal, administrative and financial consequences.
