Grand opening of Arab Open University on March 1

Muscat: The Arab Open University – Oman will celebrate the grand opening of its new campus in the Wilayat of Al Seeb in Maabela, on March 1. Representatives of the Open University, UK, will also participate in the event.


The AOU’s new campus opening will be held under the auspices of Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in the presence of Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Open University.


The new campus has been built as per the latest architectural design standards and is characterised by Omani Islamic style of architectural design. The facade is decorated with Mashrabiyas representing Islamic architecture.


The Arab Open University is a non-profit educational institution owned by Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), is based in Riyadh. Its activities are funded by the Gulf Cooperation Council. The Ministry of Social Development represents Sultanate of Oman in as a member of the programme. The AOU headquarters is located in Kuwait with eight branches, including the Sultanate of Oman.


The Arab Open University in the Sultanate of Oman offers programmes in Education, Law, Computer Sciences, and Business Studies. It attracts groups of diploma, bachelor, and master’s students confirming the university’s ability to implement its various programmes by the principles of local and international academic and institutional accreditation.


The AOU-Oman holds local institutional accreditation from Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA), and international institutional accreditation from university's strategic partner the Open University in United Kingdom.
