Oman tourism rebounds with 348% growth in arrivals

Muscat: The numbers issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicate a noticeable increase in visitors to the Sultanate of Oman in 2022.


According to NCSI, in 2022, 2.9 million visited Oman, an increase of 348 percent compared to 2021.


Among the nationalities, the UAE topped with 1.9 million visitors, followed by India (355,460), Yemen (106,529), and Germany (41,829).


The monthly statistical bulletin of tourism indicators issued by NCSI revealed a significant increase in the revenues of hotels with a rating of (3-5) stars by 91.7 percent until the end of November 2022, to reach RO 161.26 million.

The bulletin indicated that the total number of guests in hotels with a rating of (3-5) stars in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 33.9 percent to reach about 1.45 million guests by the end of November 2022, compared to 1.08 million guests in the same period in 2021, while the occupancy rate recorded a growth of 18.2 percent.


It is well known that Oman is ranked seventh in the world as one of the most important tourist destinations in 2022, as per experts’ evaluation in terms of destinations, tourist places, and adventures that attract visitors, according to the classification of the Australian ‘Lonely Planet’ website.


SIGNIFICANT RISE


ForwardKeys, an international company based in Spain, which is considered one of the world’s leading companies in the field of travel data and analytics, has issued the latest data on airline ticket reservations, especially during the months of November and December 2022.


The data shows that the Sultanate of Oman is recording a significant increase in performance compared to many tourist destinations in the region, as it witnessed an increase of more than 93 percent from the beginning of September until the end of 2022, compared to the same period the year before in the number of visitors from global markets, especially from European countries and Middle East countries, in addition to an increase of more than 156 percent in the number of visitors from regional markets.
