Activities lined up for Al Dakhiliyah Festival

NIZWA: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Al Dakhiliyah Governorate will launch the governorate-level activities for Al Dakhiliyah Festival 2023 on Thursday.


The festival includes several activities ranging from cultural, heritage, entertainment and adventure, presenting several tourism experiences for the visitors. It will also have seminars and dialogue sessions extending for over two weeks, from February 23 to March 4.


The festival's launch will also coincide with the official opening of the Bisya and Salut archaeological sites in the Wilayat of Bahla.


The festival aims to create attractive tourism activities for the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, increase tourist attraction and introduce tourist destinations and cultural and heritage sites involving small and medium enterprises and members of the local community.



It is aimed at boosting the local economy and raising the occupancy rate of hotels.


The festival's activities will take place at tourist sites in several wilayats of the governorate. Local flavours include simulating daily life in castles, making Omani sweets, experiencing Omani barbecue and making pottery. It aims to make the visitors practice these experiences according to a specific schedule.


The festival will also include folklore performances, horse and camel shows, paragliding and evening events involving art, music and literature. Youth initiatives exhibition, youth dialogue session, traditional and artisan markets, entertainment games for young and old, theatre for accompanying events, Omani sweets making, tours, mountain walking, and mountain biking would be other highlights of the festival.
