Urban strategy to focus on quality services for citizens

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning will hold a media briefing to review its comprehensive transformation plan which involves objectives, results and output as well as its executive plan for 2023, on Monday.


The briefing will be addressed by Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and the ministry’s under-secretaries.


The ministry is looking forward to achieving maximum quality of services and high efficiency in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, as well as moving the housing and urban planning services to an advanced level.


As part of its 2023 executive plan, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning targets the governance management of its urban strategy as well as preparing and implementing the structural scheme for Greater Muscat, Greater Salalah and Greater Nizwa. Besides, the ministry seeks to prepare and implement the Al Jabal Al Akhdhar scheme, prepare the structural scheme for Ibri, Al Rustaq, Sur, Al Buraimi, Ibra and Haima.


Also, as part of its 2023 executive plan, the ministry will decide on the indemnification for the citizens affected by the railway project and will complete the transfer of the rural housing files.


Besides, the ministry is planning to finalise in-kind and cash indemnities for those affected by Al Batinah Coastal Carriageway and the relocation of citizens whose properties were affected by the activities of Sohar Port in the Wilayat of Liwa.


The ministry also intends to roll out investment sites in the areas aligned to Al Batinah Coastal Carriageway in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah.
