MUSCAT : Bait Al Zubair Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, launched the third edition of the Bait Al Zubair Competition for School Reading Initiatives under the auspices of Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, at the Bait Al Zubair Museum in Muscat.
In his speech, Dr Ambusaidi emphasised the importance of the reading competition for school students in enhancing reading awareness and skills among students. He also hoped that the partnership between the Ministry and the Bait Al Zubair Foundation would extend to other aspects in the future.
The competition aims to achieve various goals in line with Oman Vision 2040, including strengthening community partnership with educational institutions, instilling values of initiative and creativity, and discovering student talents to encourage and refine them.
The guide for the competition will be circulated to all schools in Oman and includes the definition of the initiative, forms and types of reading initiatives, objectives of the Bait Al Zubair competition for school reading initiatives, and the conditions and criteria of the competition. The guide also outlines the steps of the competition, mechanisms for applying for participation, and the arbitration committee, which consists of specialists concerned with reading initiatives from the cultural community, a representative from Bait Al Zubair Foundation, and a representative from the Ministry of Education.
The prizes for the competition are RO 1000 for the first place, RO 700 for the second place, RO 600 for the third place, RO 500 for the fourth place, RO 400 for the fifth place, and RO 200 as encouragement prizes for student initiatives. The deadline for receiving the initiatives is April 15, 2023.
